LA Gymnastics Club
LA Gymnastics came to our school one day a week for 6 weeks. The children worked on balancing, rolling, twisting, stretching, climbing and transferring weight and developing body awareness through further movement variations of direction, pathways, levels, shapes, speed and effort. All children had conditioning homework each week. By the end of the 6 weeks all children could touch their toes! As a treat, the gymnastics club invited our school to their very large and modern premises to use their facilities which included balance beams, trampolines, bars, floor mats and bouncy castle.
Local Sports and Clubs The Active School Committee carried out surveys to find out what clubs the children in our school are in and what sports they play outside school. The carrying out of these surveys created a lot of discussion around our local clubs and what facilities are available to the children. This was a very worthwhile activity for the children to engage in.
Jersey Day The children and staff alike wore their favourite jerseys to school in October, 2018 to raise money for the charity GOAL. We talked about the different types of jerseys and what teams they represent.
GAA with Rory Beggan Rory Beggan comes to our school for a 6 week block every year to coach all children in games. The children thoroughly enjoy these sessions and look forward to further developing their skills every year with Rory.
